But is it Art?

I'm Corey. I'm an amateur, self-taught photographer. I took all of these pictures, including the two good ones. I've been lucky enough to wander a decent chunk of the planet with camera in hand touring as a crew member with a band. This blog covers those travels and whatever else I can find an excuse to squeeze down through my lens. Thanks for looking.

this is where I get to be ridiculous

Tonight is the ninth anniversary of But is it Art? the radio show, a silly thing I started for fun that somehow resulted in me doing things like interviewing Robyn Hitchcock about his hat, spending a week at SXSW for free, getting phone calls from crazy people, playing forgotten disco 7”s and sound FX records all night, recording people drunkenly karaoke-ing, making intentionally bad David Bowie covers to play on the air, and thousands of other gleaming memories of ridiculousness and triumph. Somehow it all also ended up, and quite accidentally so, as a career. I just wish I had realized it would be a terrible name for a photo blog.
I’ve never listened to the tape of my first show before but, hearing it now, I’m really glad that this kid with the quivering nervous voice showed up that night, and kept doing it until he got rather good at it.
Go do something, even if it’s stupid, even if you’re not very good, and don’t stop.
